Maserati Quattroporte GT

The Italians really do know how to put on a grand show.

Ba! Those lucky automotive journalists with their lucky press passes. Maserati announced (on the 20th) that for the second half of this month of March, the latest version of the Italian marque's flagship sedan - the Quattroporte GT - will be available for a lucky few to take for a spin at the Accademia Militare in Bella Italia.

The only thing that outshines this grand car, is the even grander setting.

Apparently, there's been a national pecking order as to when certain journalists have been permitted to test drive the new saloon.

The first to drive the car were the Italian, American, Canadian, and Japanese press two weeks ago.

Last week, it was the British (including Commonwealth), German, Swiss media.

This week, the Belgian, Dutch, French, German, Portugese and Spanish magazines may have a drive.

This bizarre order must symbolize the ranking of sales in the respective national markets.

That is my best and only guess.
