Ford recalls about 180,000 trucks

WASHINGTON – Ford Motor Co. is recalling about 180,000 light trucks to replace a door handle spring that may break and a fuel hose that may leak.

The spring is on interior side door handles of 2007-08 Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators. About 124,000 vehicles will be recalled for installation of a newly designed spring, Ford told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The company informed regulators that door latches work even if handle springs break, but a recall will be conducted because the doors might open in a crash.

In a separate case, about 57,000 trucks built for the 2006-07 model years will be recalled to replace the fuel rail assembly. A fuel rail crossover hose can leak, Ford told regulators.

The hoses are on 5.4-liter engines in Lincoln Navigators, Ford Expeditions and Ford E-150, E-250 and E-350 vans, according to NHTSA’s Web site.

The company said it has no reports of crashes, fires or injuries related to the two problems.
